XVII Latin American Seminar of Analysis by X-ray Techniques – SARX 2024
04-06 NOV’24
VII Brazilian School of Archaeometry and Sciences Applied to Heritage – EBRARQ 2024
07-08 NOV’24
The Latin American Seminar of Analysis by X-Ray Techniques (SARX) is an international meeting held in South America countries and assembles the best researchers from around the world to promote the exchange of experiences in research and technology developments by X-ray techniques. Since 1997, SARX has been taken place in many countries all over the Latin America with many researchers from several parts of the world. The Seminar is held every two years and the next one will be in 2024, in Brazil. In this year, SARX 2024 will be organized by the Rio de Janeiro State University. The Seminar will be held in Rio de Janeiro city, Rio de Janeiro State – Brazil.
The seminar promotes a space to share researches and projects or simply to attend to the conferences and poster presentations. At this opportunity the seminar will address several areas of expertise: X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray Imaging (XRI), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), Electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA), Particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE), X ray spectroscopy aplications, among others.
SARX was held for the first time during the 80s by a group of researchers from Córdoba, La Plata and Buenos Aires, led by Dr. Alberto Riveros de la Vega. It began as a local seminar where only Argentina X Ray specialists met. Since 1990, it has become an international conference and it has been held in different Latin América countries. The host countries include:
All these events have included researchers from several countries all over the world.
The “Escola Brasileira de Arqueometria e Ciências Aplicadas ao Patrimônio” (EBRARQ) was held for the first time in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, at the Maracanã campus of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), inspired by the “Scuola estiva de archeometria”, which was held annually in the province of Lecce, Italy.
The event, which is held twice a year, has the participation of the greatest national and international experts in the most used techniques in the area of cultural goods. The objective is to create a discussion forum, for students and specialists from different backgrounds, on a wide range of experimental techniques, which are used for knowledge, restoration and conservation of cultural heritage assets.
The school’s focus is also to be a place for exchanging experience and information between researchers from different sectors, through an integrated approach between scientific, stylistic, material, historical and philosophical analyzes with a view to overcoming the division between these disciplines.
EBRARQ was born in 2012 as the “Escola de Arquiometria do Rio de Janeiro”, it grew over the years and in 2022 it was named “Escola Brasileira de Arquiometria e Ciências Aplicadas ao Patrimônio”. The host places include:
